Qwestion prefenting folder access widows server 2016

I'm working on a server for my project.

I need to prefend acces to a folder whitout using disable_inheritance and deny rights.

Sure this is possible by GPO but i dont now how, pleas help.

Hello,

We are planning a project to migrate all of our System center deployments to either AWS or Azure starting with SCSM. I am wondering if there is any benefits to actually hosting the SCSM server on azure vs AWS. Same question for SCOM,SCCM, and SCORCH.

Hi all,

I have a weird performance issue in the SCSM 2016 server we have: some query results are using the class user (advanced), as it is the only way to display managed by users. After clicking the "refresh" button to retrieve the list of managed by users, it takes a very long time to display it, and in server side, the process Microsoft.Mom.Sdk.ServiceHost.exe consumes a lot of RAM (7GB). this behavior is remarked only for request offering with query results using user (advanced) class.

What should I do to troubleshoot this issue?

hi,

The new CRs being created (along with activities) are now stuck on new as its status.     what can I do to check the root cause and fix it.

the solutions I can see in searches are powershell to force the statuses.. I don't want to do that ... is there a safer way ?

Evaluation period of Service Manager expired

I have installed Service Manager 2012 in our development environment some time ago, and the evaluation period has expired, so the console is not running anymore. 

I saw that it is not possible to add a product key in that version of Service Manager, however there was a tool offered in the past as seen in older posts. Is it still available somewhere?

I have been creating knowledge articles in SCSM portal but now need to remove a couple of internal ones.

I believe this is held within the index.cshtml file, but am unsure which lines to remove.

Hi,

Exchange connector document (SM2012_EC_Deployment_Guide) suggest to use EWS 1.2 API, but however the download like is not working anymore. Can anyone please suggest where can we get this EWS 1.2 API (.dll) file?

I saw we have latest version of EWS 2.2, but tthat is not working while configuring the connector with mailbox. I'm getting same error as mentioned in below blog.

If more than one "xxx" service is installed on one machine as win service, it is possible that they can effect each other. If one is stopped the other one will stop as well. This does not happen every time, but after some tests it will happen.

SCSM 2019 Authoring tool documentation

I can not find a detailed reference for the User Interface for Service Manager Authoring tool 2019.  I know it follows more or less the VS interface, but I am not an expert at VS either. Some of my question are fairly basic, but I would like to know of there is a "help file" or something like that.

The WSIWIG is terrible and it says that in some of the documentation I have read, but I can not figure out a "basic" ability to add a widget from the tool box (which is added to the end of the Incident Form) and then be able to move it up under one of the other grids (ie Affected Services).  They said you need to update the "binding Property", but the grids do not show on that list.  If I bind it to some other attribute like "title", it just disappears. How do you add and reposition things on the customized form.

On a related note in the details property pane, is there not way to "list" all of the attitudes and controls on a form.  That would make it a LOT easier to find an attribute that disappeared.

Since SCSM 2019 is new I would even take a book/help file from SCSM 2016 if that is the best available.

So this shows, I am a beginner at SCSM, but I am looking for what client a help desk person uses to work on tickets.  I only see the SCSM Console which seems like a big stick, and the Self service portal.

The SCSM Console would work, but I do not see a "stand alone" install. Only the one that is bundled with the Server side install that installs the console on the server.

What am I missing?

Workflows not running consistently

Good day everyone,

I have a strange thing happening and I have run out of things to check

Problem:

When users create IR or SR through the portal the workflow that changes the Support Group does not run every time.

Variables:

Location: Location 1, Location 2 and Location 3
User Capacity: P for Staff and S for Students

Scenario:

Our users are located in three locations and travel between locations. To accommodate the fact that they can be at any location at any time, they must select their current location when they complete the form in the portal. 
This kicks off a workflow that changes the support group so that they can get support from where they are currently located.

Request Offering:

In all the RO templates the Support Group is set to "StagingIT" along with the RO specific values such as Classification, priority etc.

Workflow Criteria:

When IR or SR is created
Support Group = StagingIT
Capacity = P
Location = Location 1

This will then apply a template that sets the support Group to "Location 1 Staff Service Desk"

There are six similar workflows to accommodate the three locations and two user capacities.

Issue:

As stated in the Problem statement, the above-mentioned workflows do not kick off consistently. About 1 in 10 created IR or SR does not work

Nothing has changed with the workflows, templates or ROs and this has all worked well since September last year

What did happen is that one of our VMWare hosts rebooted, the WF and SM DB server were guests on the host.

After the issue with the host was resolved and the guests started up automatically, I proceeded to shut down the portal server, orchestrator, DW Management server, WF server, SM DB and then the DW DB. I waited 5 minutes and started everything in reverse as listed above.

There are no other issues that I am aware of and all other workflows are running ie WIs status changes from new to in progress or active, notifications get sent out etc

Troubleshooting:

I went through the OpsMan and other event logs and there are no errors or warnings.
Ran the SQL script to check the workflow status and how many minutes behind they are.
Removed and recreated the six workflows.

Conclusion:

What I suspect is that the order of workflows when something gets created has been messed up and that some update workflow is running before the ones I need and then the WI is not in "Created" state anymore.

Currently, we are manually moving the WIs to the correct Support Group while I search for a solution.

I have started to build an Orchestrator workflow to check for newly created WIs and then do the support Group changes, but imo that is only a workaround for perhaps a larger issue.

At this stage, I have read anything I can possibly find to find a solution
If anyone is willing to throw some ideas to troubleshoot it will be highly appreciated.
